What program should I use to make models for DSS?
The following 3d modeling programs have had converters designed to work with The OGRE 3d engine and will therefore work with DSS.
- 3DS Max
- Softimage XSI
- Maya
- Blender
- Milkshape 3D (No Animation export support)
- Lightwave 3D (No Animation export support)
- AC3D (No Animation export support)
For more up to date information, check the [OGRE 3D Tools].
Can I export animations?
Yes, but only certain kinds and from certain programs. The exporters for 3DS MAX, MAYA Softimage XSI and Blender support exporting of skeletal Animations. For more up to date information, check the [OGRE 3D Tools].
How many poly’s can DSS cope with?
This depends on your hardware. DSS can theoretically handle an unlimited number of polygons. There may be an upper limit on a per model basis, however these limitations would be imposed by the operating system.
Can I export my model from X program?
The following 3d modeling programs have had converters designed to work with The OGRE 3d engine and will therefore work with DSS. -3DS Max -Softimage XSI -Maya -Blender -Milkshape 3D (No Animation export support) -Lightwave 3D (No Animation export support) -AC3D (No Animation export support) For more up to date information, check the [OGRE 3D Tools].
My model is fully physics rigged in X program do I have to rig it again for DSS ?
I’m afraid so, there is no means for DSS to import physics rigging at the present time.
Does DSS support shaders?
Yes OGRE (the 3D engine DSS uses) has support for Shaders.
Does DSS Support HD?
Yes, DSS will display in HD resolutions, it should be noted that you need HD compatible Hardware. And a powerful computer in order to maintain a high frame rate.
Does DSS support DirectX 10?
Currently DSS Does not support DirectX 10. However OGRE (the 3D engine used by DSS) is developing DirectX 10 support.
