Missing dll's and other fun errors running DSS!

Hey guys

Just installed the current version of DSS (0.8.1, no previous version installed) I get the errors when starting DSS due to missing dll's.

I had to copy zlib1.dll and cg.dll over from the dependencies archive and it worked okay.

I did however get an error about a missing entry point in alut.dll;

"The procedure entry point alutCreateBufferFromFileImage could not be located in the dynamic link library alut.dll."

and i get told that "python24.dll" was not found, but i installed python (and openAL) as per the packaged installer.

Once in there i goto load the welcome space and it failed due to my connection being through a http proxy.. when do we get that feature?

The OpenAL error is a different one. It suggests that an old copy of alut.dll is being loaded. Can you check if you have an alut.dll in the "Digital Spaces/modules/3DAudio_OpenAL/" folder, and if you have one in C:\Windows\ or its subfolders?

I just intalled 0.8.2 and the only error i get now is the alut.dll error..

I do have an alut.dll in the 3DAudio_OpenAL folder, But i also have an ALut.dll in my system32 directory which is version 6.14.442.30 provided by nvidia...

When i rename the alut.dll in my system32 directory it solves all the errors!

This tells me the OpenAL module is loading the dll's in the wrong order, I'll look into it.

TOKYO - Japan will unveil on Monday details of "stress tests" idled nuclear power plants must undergo before they can be restarted, a senior official said on Sunday, as the government seeks to reassure the public over safety after the Fukushima disaster.
Gohsi Hosono, the minister appointed to oversee Japan's response to the crisis at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, told Fuji TV in an interview the government would also announce on Monday a plan for electricity supply over the next "one or two years" to allay businesses' fears over power shortages.
"The results of the new stress tests and the decision on restarts cannot be treated separately," Hosono said.
He said the tests, intended to assess whether Japan's nuclear plants could withstand the kind of massive earthquake and tsunami that pushed Fukushima into crisis, would have different standards to those proposed by the European Union, adding: "This will be a Japanese-style test."
In a sudden shift in policy, Prime Minister Naoto Kan said last week that Japan would administer stress tests for nuclear plants similar to those conducted by the European Union after the meltdowns at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
The move was welcomed by critics who charge that Japan's current safety regulations have been too lax, but it also raised the prospect of power shortages that would stretch into the summer of 2012 and could cut into industrial production.
Japanese utilities are currently operating 19 of the 54 nuclear reactors that had been available before the March 11 earthquake and tsunami triggered meltdowns and explosions at four of the reactors at Fukushima Daiichi.
Japan's trade ministry said earlier this month that, without approval to restart reactors now down for maintenance, all of Japan's reactors could be shut by next April, adding more than $30 billion to the nation's energy costs.
The ministry had been pushing for a quick restart of the No 2 and No 3 reactors at Genkai in Kyushu as early as this summer.
The announcement of a new safety standard prompted a backlash from officials in communities near that Genkai plant who said they had been left in the dark about the shift in government policy.
The Fukushima nuclear plant lost power after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. Three of the reactors had uranium fuel meltdown, and a series of hydrogen explosions scattered radioactive debris across a wide area.
Some 80,000 people have been forced to evacuate the area around the plant because of the threat from radiation.

US President Barack Obama warned of a "deep economic crisis" if Washington fails to raise the US debt limit, and urged Americans in a speech to demand that Republicans compromise in stalled talks to avoid a default.
A day shy of the one-week mark before the United States begins to run out of money to pay its bills, Obama in a nationally televised address called the debt talks stalemate that now has dragged on for weeks "a dangerous game" that the country "cannot afford to play."
As the president spoke from the East Room of the White House, the dollar plunged to a four month low in Tokyo early Tuesday amid growing jitters as the impasse between Republicans and Democrats over the US debt crisis deepened.
Obama cast the blame for the stalemate on Republicans' refusal to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling unless there is agreement to make deep spending cuts without increases in taxes on the wealthy.
If Congress fails to raise the debt ceiling by August 2, the resulting economic disaster could include higher interest rates for the US government as well as for American consumers.
Failure to compromise, Obama said in his speech from the White House, "would risk sparking a deep economic crisis -- one caused almost entirely by Washington."
He rejected a Republican proposal for a temporary increase in the debt limit, arguing it would leave the underlying problem unresolved and lead to a repeat of the current crisis in just six months' time.
"That is no way to run the greatest country on Earth. It is a dangerous game we've never played before, and we can't afford to play it now," he said.
With a potential US default as of Tuesday just a week away, Obama appealed to Americans to "make your voice heard" to members of Congress.
Obama's 9:00 pm (0100 GMT) speech was only his seventh formal address to the nation, and the first since he unveiled a timeline for a US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan in June.
The top Republican leader in Congress, John Boehner, responded with a late-night speech of his own Monday, blaming Obama for the crisis, and warning that while the United States cannot default on its debt obligations, Americans nevertheless would demand deep cuts in spending.
Boehner -- who has flatly rejected Obama's call for tax hikes on the rich and on wealthy corporations -- is proposing a two-step plan with increases first to February or March 2012, and later to 2013.
"Time is running short and it would be irresponsible for the president to veto this common-sense plan and run the risk of default," said Boehner, who is the speaker of the House of Representatives.
"I would encourage the Senate to pass this plan and the president to sign it," he said.
The prospect of the world's richest country running out of cash to pay its bills come next Tuesday sent stocks sliding and gold soaring while the IMF warned of a "severe shock" to the world economy absent an elusive breakthrough.
Washington hit its debt ceiling on May 16 but has used spending and accounting adjustments, as well as higher-than-expected tax receipts, to continue operating normally but can only do so through August 2.
At that point, US leaders will face an agonizing choice about cutting an estimated 40 cents of every dollar in spending and defaulting either on debt payments or on other obligations like government health or retirement benefits.
Finance and business leaders have warned that failure to raise the US debt ceiling by then would send shockwaves through the fragile world economy, while Obama has predicted a default would trigger economic "Armageddon."
Meanwhile, there were signs that the stand-off was exacting a political toll on the president.
A poll released early Tuesday by the Washington Post and ABC television showed weakening support for Obama's economic agenda, and found that the percentage of people who said Obama has made the economy worse has jumped six points since October to 37 percent.
Republicans also took a hit in Americans' esteem however, according to the survey. About as many people blamed Republican policies for the bad economy as they do Obama.
But the poll found that 65 percent disapproved of the GOP's handling of jobs -- still the top economic issue -- compared to 52 percent for the president.
All sides in the dispute agree Washington must reduce its deficit but disagree on the size and blend of spending cuts and revenue increases as well as on how and whether to slice into the social safety net.
The International Monetary Fund pressed US politicians to raise the debt ceiling "expeditiously to avoid a severe shock to the US economy and world financial markets" with the deadline now looming large.
Weighed down by the impasse, US stock markets fell and safe-haven Swiss francs soared amid worries about both the dollar and the euro, while gold climbed to a record $1,624 an ounce before falling back slightly to $1,614.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tried to mollify America's allies and creditors in Asia, promising during a trip there that "intense" wrangling among the White House, its Democratic allies, and Republican foes would reach an 11th-hour compromise.

A total of 776 employees have been notified that they will be affected by the job cuts, though not all of them will ultimately end up leaving the department, Gary Corbett, president of the labor union, the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC), told the CTV television network in an interview Thursday. The union represents about half of the workers who will lose their jobs.
Environment Canada, a national agency that tracks climate change, protects endangered animals and fights pollution, expects 300 employees to be "surplused," the union leader added.
Corbett is worried about the impact of the job losses.
"These type of announcements cause a lot of havoc in the department and people are certainly wondering what is going to happen now," he said.
Government officials briefed senior union representatives Wednesday on the pending cuts. The union was told Environment Canada will now concentrate on core services like contamination cleanup and enforcement of pollution rules.
Meteorologists, chemists, biologists and other scientists are expected to either be fired or transferred to other positions within the federal public service.
Treasury Board President Tony Clement, who is in charge of reducing the cost of government services, said Thursday that this is a decision by Environment Canada. He promised the government would try to find new jobs for the fired.
"When there are staff reductions, first of all those decisions are not taken lightly, because we are dealing with human beings and families and we know that this is sometimes a challenging time when these decisions are made for those individuals," Clement said at a news conference in Ottawa.
"But we as a government go out of our way to work with each individual to try to see whether through attrition, whether there's another position available in the government of Canada or at least work with them for retraining. I think that's the right thing to do," he said.
Clement said about 11,000 people -- roughly 5 percent of the federal workforce -- quit or retire from the public service every year and he hoped some of the Environment Canada workers could fill these vacancies. The government cannot give a guarantee but would do its best, he said.
But union leaders didn't expect many of the fired workers to find new jobs in the government.
Green Party Leader Elizabeth May said in a statement that her Party is concerned that this latest round of job cuts could affect Environment Canada's ability to deal with complex and changing environmental issues, May said.
Besides, they are "worried that cuts are also impacting other departments," she said.
Her words were echoed by the Liberal Party.
They called the cuts "reckless," saying they "prove that protecting our fragile environment while building a vibrant green economy is not a Conservative priority."
"These massive cuts are deeply alarming and will result in reduced ability to evaluate scientific issues, such as air quality, climate change and water quality, and could potentially lead to less-informed decision-making," Liberal environment critic Kirsty Duncan said in a statement.
Further job losses are possible when the government completes its "strategic review" of operations later this year.

US President Barack Obama warned of a "deep economic crisis" if Washington fails to raise the US debt limit, and urged Americans in a speech to demand that Republicans compromise in stalled talks to avoid a default.
A day shy of the one-week mark before the United States begins to run out of money to pay its bills, Obama in a nationally televised address called the debt talks stalemate that now has dragged on for weeks "a dangerous game" that the country "cannot afford to play."
As the president spoke from the East Room of the White House, the dollar plunged to a four month low in Tokyo early Tuesday amid growing jitters as the impasse between Republicans and Democrats over the US debt crisis deepened.
Obama cast the blame for the stalemate on Republicans' refusal to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling unless there is agreement to make deep spending cuts without increases in taxes on the wealthy.
If Congress fails to raise the debt ceiling by August 2, the resulting economic disaster could include higher interest rates for the US government as well as for American consumers.
Failure to compromise, Obama said in his speech from the White House, "would risk sparking a deep economic crisis -- one caused almost entirely by Washington."
He rejected a Republican proposal for a temporary increase in the debt limit, arguing it would leave the underlying problem unresolved and lead to a repeat of the current crisis in just six months' time.
"That is no way to run the greatest country on Earth. It is a dangerous game we've never played before, and we can't afford to play it now," he said.
With a potential US default as of Tuesday just a week away, Obama appealed to Americans to "make your voice heard" to members of Congress.
Obama's 9:00 pm (0100 GMT) speech was only his seventh formal address to the nation, and the first since he unveiled a timeline for a US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan in June.
The top Republican leader in Congress, John Boehner, responded with a late-night speech of his own Monday, blaming Obama for the crisis, and warning that while the United States cannot default on its debt obligations, Americans nevertheless would demand deep cuts in spending.
Boehner -- who has flatly rejected Obama's call for tax hikes on the rich and on wealthy corporations -- is proposing a two-step plan with increases first to February or March 2012, and later to 2013.
"Time is running short and it would be irresponsible for the president to veto this common-sense plan and run the risk of default," said Boehner, who is the speaker of the House of Representatives.
"I would encourage the Senate to pass this plan and the president to sign it," he said.
The prospect of the world's richest country running out of cash to pay its bills come next Tuesday sent stocks sliding and gold soaring while the IMF warned of a "severe shock" to the world economy absent an elusive breakthrough.
Washington hit its debt ceiling on May 16 but has used spending and accounting adjustments, as well as higher-than-expected tax receipts, to continue operating normally but can only do so through August 2.
At that point, US leaders will face an agonizing choice about cutting an estimated 40 cents of every dollar in spending and defaulting either on debt payments or on other obligations like government health or retirement benefits.
Finance and business leaders have warned that failure to raise the US debt ceiling by then would send shockwaves through the fragile world economy, while Obama has predicted a default would trigger economic "Armageddon."
Meanwhile, there were signs that the stand-off was exacting a political toll on the president.
A poll released early Tuesday by the Washington Post and ABC television showed weakening support for Obama's economic agenda, and found that the percentage of people who said Obama has made the economy worse has jumped six points since October to 37 percent.
Republicans also took a hit in Americans' esteem however, according to the survey. About as many people blamed Republican policies for the bad economy as they do Obama.
But the poll found that 65 percent disapproved of the GOP's handling of jobs -- still the top economic issue -- compared to 52 percent for the president.
All sides in the dispute agree Washington must reduce its deficit but disagree on the size and blend of spending cuts and revenue increases as well as on how and whether to slice into the social safety net.
The International Monetary Fund pressed US politicians to raise the debt ceiling "expeditiously to avoid a severe shock to the US economy and world financial markets" with the deadline now looming large.
Weighed down by the impasse, US stock markets fell and safe-haven Swiss francs soared amid worries about both the dollar and the euro, while gold climbed to a record $1,624 an ounce before falling back slightly to $1,614.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tried to mollify America's allies and creditors in Asia, promising during a trip there that "intense" wrangling among the White House, its Democratic allies, and Republican foes would reach an 11th-hour compromise.
